California Lawmaker to Introduce Ban on Pet Cloning
Español | Deutsche | Français | Italiano | Português | English
Yahoo! News - California Considers Ban on Pet Cloning Well, it's about time someone got around to this.
Got $50,000? One company in California will clone your cat and is currently working on a dog cloning process, but if one California lawmaker is successful, they might be out of business before they even start.
Citing the millions of unwanted pets euthanised in America every year, and the effect cloned animals could have on research, Lloyd Levine of the California Assembly says it's unregulated and targets vulnerable people so he plans to introduce legislation to ban the practice before it becomes epidemic.
One person from Texas has already had a cat cloned and four more are in various stages of development at Sausalito based Genetic Savings & Clone Inc who say this is all the work of animal rights activists and they will fight.
I can't believe we need legislation to stop this because there is a lucrative market for it. What are people thinking when we put to death so many perfectly good animals every year that they need to clone beloved Fluffy for the yearly wages of two families?
Let Fluffy go.... He's in a better place.... time to love a new Fluffy and you can build an animal rescue mission with the savings.
Can it really be emotionally healthy to feel the need to clone your cat?
